Round 9 Ravens

3/24/2016

Something peculiar just happened in my latest MFL10 draft.  In the ninth round, within the first five picks in the round, four of them were Baltimore Ravens.

Are the Ravens a sleeping offensive juggernaut with Joe Flacco coming back? Are these players overrated or underrated? Were they drafted too early or too late? We will not know the answers to these questions at this point in the year, hopefully the situation plays out well for those who pick them.

Here are my quick takes on those ninth round Ravens:
Javorius "Buck" Allen - Second year RB with very high upside playing behind aging Justin Forsett. Forsett was injured part of last season, and Buck made a decent, but not spectacular, showing in his absence. I probably would pick him at this spot also, depending on what RB depth I have going into the pick.
Kamar Aiken - He was thrust into the WR1 position with Perriman and Smith out with injuries last season. He held his own, doing well even without Flacco at QB. He will serve his fantasy owners well this season as a WR3 or WR4. He'll probably be picked in rounds 8-12 in upcoming drafts.
Breshad Perriman - He was injured for his entire rookie year, but was highly regarded before he was drafted. He'll be back this season, and will contend for a starting spot this season. To be honest (TBH lol), I am not sold on Perriman because he has not proven anything yet on the field in the NFL. He does offer some upside though, and might be worth the risk as a ninth round or later pick.
Steve Smith - This was MY Raven pick in this round. Smith is old for an NFL player, and he was also injured last season. But I still LOVE his toughness and ferocity. He renounced his "retirement" to come back and play this season. I believe Steve Smith comes back to the Ravens as their WR1, and will lead the Raven receiving corps in all receiving statistics.

Also, I love the Markus Wheaton pick in this ninth round with Martavis Bryant out for the season for smoking weed. Thanks for reading, let me know what you think, and follow me on Twitter @ff_inferno!

Analysis of my latest draft

3/11/2016

Earlier this week, I finished drafting my first FFPC Online Satellite team.  These leagues are draft only (Best Ball) and PPR with TE premium (TE's get 1.5 pts per reception).  These drafts take a while, as they are slow snake drafts (10 hours for each pick) lasting 28 rounds.

I had the second pick, and I think I did well.  Please see the picture below for my draft board.  I really love my WR corp, starting with OBJ as my first pick. My RB's are not top shelf, but I'm still happy with the upside they offer.  I might be reaching with where I drafted my TE's, but again, each of them have their upside arrows pointing up.  I waited until the 11th round to pick a QB, and picked the best ones available with my 12th and 13th round picks also.  My trio of Stafford, A. Smith, and Osweiler should provide decent production.  My favorite picks of this draft were in the 16th and 17th rounds.  I feel that Dwayne Allen and Jamison Crowder are STEALS at those spots.   My not-so-favorite pick, is kicker "Sea Bass" Janikowski because he is an older, very old fat guy.  Hopefully he is still the Raider's kicker this season, and not a wasted draft pick.

It's only March, and we just finished the NFL Combine and started 2016 Free Agency.  We can't predict what happens between now and the end of the football season.  But I think this team has a great chance to win me some money come December.

Welcome to the INFERNO Fantasy Football blog!  I may look young (see the "About" page), but I played in my first Fantasy Football league way back in 1995. I started playing in mid/high stakes FF leagues five years ago and even won one (2014 FFWC #8). I also won the 2016 KFFSC. In 2018, I was Top 5 in the SBFFC. This blog will document my thoughts, experiences, and exploits in the realm of Fantasy Football. I've also been starting to do sports betting more in 2019. Any picks I post are for entertainment purposes only. Thanks for reading!
